Festoon and String Lights
The fastest way to make an outdoor space feel like a room. Strung overhead, festoon lights the whole area at once and gives you something to sit under.
The thing that separates a festoon run that lasts from one that sags in a year is the catenary wire. Stainless wire, properly tensioned with turnbuckles, carries the weight; the cable itself should hang from it, not hold it up. Every system here is sold as a catenary kit for that reason.
Choose by use: belt-drive rubber for hire and heavy handling, warm white LED for permanent installation and low running cost, vintage filament where the look of the lamp matters, marine grade anywhere coastal. Lamps are consumable — keep a pack of spares, because they always fail the week of the party.
