About Garden Glow Supply

We sell garden lighting: 12V low voltage schemes, solar, festoon, underwater, and every connector, transformer and metre of cable that makes them work.

The catalogue runs from a nine-pound pack of connectors to a three-thousand-pound complete garden scheme, and the small end matters as much as the large end — because the small end is what decides whether the large end still works in five years.

Three things we do differently

1. We tell you solar is a summer product

Every solar product on this site carries a "When to buy" note saying plainly that output falls away from November to January and that anyone who wants light in midwinter should buy 12V instead.

That costs us a handful of December sales. It saves us the January returns, and it saves you buying something that was never going to do what you wanted. 12V or Solar? is the whole argument.

2. We think winter is the right time to install

Bare borders, soft ground, nothing in the way. A cable run that takes an afternoon in January takes a weekend in May and ruins the planting on the way through. Nobody else in this category leads with it, and it is the most useful thing we can tell somebody in November. Here's why.

3. We explain the cable, not just the fittings

Garden lighting fails at the far end of the garden, and it is almost never the fitting's fault. It is voltage drop, or a connector that wasn't rated for burial, or an in-ground fitting sitting in a hole full of water.

So we publish the arithmetic — transformer sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, drainage — and every complete scheme we sell ships with the transformer, cable and connectors already sized for the fittings in the box.

What we stock

Eleven makers, each doing one thing:

  • Bramblewick — 12V spike spotlights, step and wall lights, and complete garden schemes
  • Thornbury Brass — solid brass and copper path lights and bollards, which weather rather than wear out
  • Longacre Festoon — catenary festoon systems, posts, lamps and every spare part for them
  • Meadowline Solar — the solar path lights, bollards and wall lights
  • Orchard Lantern Co — decorative solar: strings, lanterns, stake lights
  • Deepwell Aqua — underwater lighting for ponds, pools and water features
  • Groundline — walkover and driveover in-ground uplighters
  • Kestrel Control — timers, photocells, sensors, zone modules and app control
  • Sunpath Solar Works — off-grid systems with a real panel and a real battery, for gardens with no power
  • Ridgeway Events — party, marquee and wedding rigs, in hire grade and install grade
  • Garden Glow Essentials — our own cable, connectors, transformers, spikes, sleeves and tools

What we'd rather you did

Ask before you order. Send a photo of the garden in daylight, a rough sketch with distances, and what you want lit. We'll size the transformer and the cable and tell you what it costs — free, usually within a working day, and with no obligation.

We would much rather spend twenty minutes on that than have you buy four spotlights and a reel of the wrong cable.
