Ponds and Water Features
Underwater lighting is the most dramatic thing in this catalogue and the one with the strictest rules.
IP68 and nothing less, with the stated depth rating respected, and every joint resin-filled rather than gel-filled if it will sit permanently submerged. Light with the water movement: a waterfall lit from below and behind glows; lit from the front it just goes flat.
For a wildlife pond, choose 2200K amber over white. It looks quieter, and amphibians and aquatic insects are markedly less disturbed by it. We stock every kit in warm white, amber and colour changing for that reason, and we would steer you to amber on a natural pond even though white photographs better.
Electrical work near water is a special location under BS 7671. The 12V side is safe to handle; the supply feeding it is a job for an electrician.
