We supply garden designers, landscapers, electricians, groundscare contractors, event companies and estate and grounds teams. If you install garden lighting rather than buy it for your own garden, a trade account is worth opening.
What an account gives you
| Trade pricing | Tiered by spend, with scheme-level pricing on whole-garden jobs. |
| 30-day terms | On approval, after two settled orders. PO references carried on every invoice and delivery note. |
| Free scheme sizing | Send a plan and we'll come back with the fittings, transformer, cable sizes, run splits and a priced schedule you can put straight into a quote. |
| Batch matching | Tell us a run of bollards or step lights must match and we'll supply from one production batch. Ask before ordering, not after. |
| Call-off delivery | Order the whole job once, take delivery in phases against your programme, invoiced on despatch of each phase. |
| Held specification | We record your standard — your spotlight, your bollard, your connector — so a repeat job matches the last one. |
| A named contact | One person who knows the job, rather than a queue. |
Scheme sizing — what to send
The more of this you have, the faster and firmer the answer. None of it is compulsory.
- A plan or sketch with distances — hand-drawn is fine.
- Where the 230V supply is, or where it could be.
- What is being lit: trees and their rough height, steps, wall runs, water, path lengths.
- Surfaces the cable must cross — lawn, border, existing paving, drive, tarmac.
- Control: timer, photocell, zones, app, scene keypads.
- Constraints — a listed building, a conservation area, a planning condition, a known bat roost, a neighbour already unhappy about light.
- Your programme, and when the ground will be open.
We come back with a priced schedule, cable sizes and run splits, usually within two working days.
The specification points we'd raise on your behalf
- Size the transformer at load plus 20%, and split long runs rather than upsizing cable. The arithmetic is on Sizing a Transformer and Cable.
- IP68 gel or resin joints on everything buried. This is the single most common defect we see on other people's installations.
- Drainage sleeve and shingle under every in-ground fitting. Without it you will be back.
- Lay spare capacity while the ground is open. A spare cable and two capped spurs cost almost nothing now.
- Warm colour temperature and shielded optics where there is a boundary, a watercourse, a hedge line or a planning condition — see Dark Sky and Wildlife. ILP GN 08/23 asks for 2700K or lower and no light above 90°, and it is far easier to specify that at the start than to retrofit shields after a complaint.
- Commission after dark, in the season the garden will be seen in. Aim in leaf, not in bare branches.
Events and hire
The Ridgeway Events range comes in hire grade — built to be rigged, de-rigged and transported repeatedly — and install grade, for a permanent installation. They are genuinely different products and the price difference reflects it. If you are a hire company, buy hire grade; if you are installing it once, don't pay for the extra robustness.
Wedding and event lead times tighten sharply from April. Tell us the date in the first email.
Documentation
On request and at no charge: itemised quotations, delivery notes carrying your PO reference, IP ratings and technical data for specification, wattage and load schedules for a scheme, and consolidated monthly invoicing.
