Off-grid systems — a real panel, a lithium battery and a charge controller — for remote borders, sheds and outbuildings, long drives, allotments and paddocks, woodland paths, and whole gardens with no mains supply.
These are the answer when the alternative is trenching eighty metres of cable to a shed. Panels come pole mounted for siting out in the open where the sun actually is, or roof mounted for an outbuilding — and the panel does not have to be anywhere near the lights.
The Winter Capable system is the one worth paying for if you need light in December: a larger panel and a larger battery, sized so midwinter charging still leaves useful hours in it. It is the only solar in this shop we would recommend for year-round use.
